In the absence of the President Captain Jeff Stevens welcomed us to Cranbourne and thanked the Club for use of the course and Club facilities.
Unfortunately 3 of our numbers were unable to find the entrance to the course as their GPS units had not updated to the new entrance location.
Our starters for the day Peter Garbellini, Phil Horsburgh and Gary Moreland along with Treasurer Peter Ross were thanked for conducting the start.
We ask all members to please support our sponsors - Innes Ireland at the
House of Golf and our sponsor through David Heraud, Jimmys Jams (a great
product). David has advised that he is able to increase his support based on
sales to Club members - so it's not just the great taste there will also be
a benefit to us as a Club.
The Committee are still looking for volunteers to assist the Marketing area and in increasing our joint capabilities of managing the web site.
The deadline for membership renewal arrived at the end of April and our current memberships are:
Added to 11 other members who left the club in the last 24 months we are a long way down from our membership growth in the pre-CoVID era. It also could be one of the recently left members is your mate. Perhaps you could talk them into rejoining, or find out why they left and advise the Committee.
It behoves all of us to seek more members as to put the Captain in a
strong negotiating position with our host Clubs being able to guarantee in
excess of 72 starters is seriously helpful.
This was copied from Mondays Age. I'm sure it makes you want to hire an American Jury.
A Massachusetts couple have won a $7 million in a court ruling against a local country club after suffering a years-long “continuous threat” from wayward golf balls. The couple’s home abuts the course’s 15th hole, but their lawyer insists the occasional backyard golf ball pales into comparison to the 651 balls that have hit their property, with several broken windows, including one where the shattering glass terrified their young daughter. The judgement is being appealed, with the defence arguing that the payout is excessive.
At just over $10,700/ball, we tend to agree with the appeal.

A depressed lady was standing on the rail of a high bridge, just plucking up the will to jump and excape from her miserable life.
A decrepit looking old bloke who was wandering by stopped and said,
"Look, since you'll be dead in a few minutes and it won't matter to you, how about a quickie before you go?"
She screamed, "NO! Bugger off you dirty old bastard!"
He shrugged and turned away saying, "Okay then, I'll just go and wait at the bottom."
The woman gazed aghast and disgusted at him for a few seconds, then turned away and started hurrying away from the bridge.
