Veterans Golf Club of Victoria

Minutes of 67th Annual General Meeting held on Monday 8th February 2016 at Rossdale Golf Club

1. Opening

President Bernie opened the meeting at 1.15 pm and warmly welcomed all members present. It has been a very busy time preparing for this AGM, as we had to despatch 23 pages to all our members, whether by email or the post.

2. Apologies

Apologies were received from Barry Pollock, Grant Watson, Chris Donald, Daryl Gangell, Chris Proctor, Peter Charlewood, Gerry O'Connor, Hugh Churchward, Joe Cirnigliari, John Molloy, Reg Davey, John Currie, John Sutherland, Chris Tierney, and Terry Brownscombe.

3. Minutes

Bernie stated that the minutes of the 66th AGM had been widely circulated to all members and asked whether there were any matters arising from these minutes.

Moved: Lance Boland Seconded: Robin Miller

All those in favour - carried

4. Annual Reports

Bernie stated that all reports had also been fully circulated to each and every member and that he did not propose that they all be read out. Each report is attached.

President's Report

Bernie stated that 2015 had been a busy year for the committee and that much of our modus operandi had been modernised, updated and streamlined, for example our handicapping system and our Constitution. In particular, he mentioned that we had increased attendance at games and that was very pleasing. He thanked the committee for their tireless work and in particular, he thanked retiring Vice Captain Mike Bainbridge for all his input and wished him all the best in his future pursuits in the wider Basketball world.

Captain' Report

No questions were asked

Treasurer's Report -

No questions

Moved acceptance of Reports: Bernie Coyle Seconded: Alan Baker

5. Annual Subscription and Match Fee

President Bernie advised the meeting that the outgoing committee has recommended that the Annual Subscription and the Monthly Match fees remain the same as last year, namely $30 and $40. Fees for members playing at their home club will remain at $10 (cost of lunch).

He asked if someone would like to move a motion to that effect -

Moved: Peter Ross Seconded: Lindsay Quinnell

Carried

6. Revised Club Constitution

Last year there were a number of amendments suggested by members that have been incorporated, where appropriate. Whilst we were doing that, we took the opportunity to align the Constitution with the "Model Rules for an Incorporated Association" as included in the "Associations Incorporation Reform Act 2012 Section 3" that was issued by Consumer Affairs Victoria.

Now all of that probably sounds terribly confusing, but it is not as bad as it may appear because a lot of it is updating terminology, renumbering and re-organising the Constitution as per the Act. All the changes have been summarised at the end of the Constitution to simplify the changes for you. As with the earlier Reports and minutes of the last AGM, every member of the Club has been sent a copy of the updated Constitution. Now I know that, being very astute people, you have all studied the Constitution closely, as it is compelling reading, if you like reading legal type documents - all 10 pages of it.

So I would therefore like to move acceptance of the revised Constitution.

Do I have a seconder? Jeff Taylor

Any discussion? None

Bernie put it to a vote -
