Treasurer John Farrow presented a comprehensive FINANCIAL REPORT showing the club's assets to be in sound shape at $4167.00 including $500.00 in stock on hand . A surplus of $1168.00 for the year compared with the deficit of $300.00 for 2008 an overall turn around of $868.00. This surplus was due to the receipt in November of an anonymous donation of $1000.00 in the form of a Bank Cheque. A wonderful contribution which was most appreciated and certainly helped the bottom Line for the year Apart from this we managed to break even, thanks to the reintroduction of the Monthly Raffle run by Ken Gangell which you will see has contributed $330.00 since August and a further $315.00 for the Christmas Raffle. Thank you Ken for your great efforts during the year . Your committee has for 2009, as reported in the Monthly Newsletter, recommended an increase in the Annual Subscription Fee to $30.00, with the Monthly competition fees unchanged at $35.00 and Host club members $10.00 for luncheon only. It should be noted that this is the first increase to Annual Subs for 8 years . To help reduce out postal costs, if you have an email address please contact the Secretary.

President Ray Underwood presented his circulated report, his 1 it as President in which he detailed a very successful year both on and off the golf courses. He reported that 2008 has been a very challenging year for the club with fluctuating membership numbers and increased costs both administration and golf related. During the year the committee prepared and circulated a flyer to Golf Clubs in the Eastern Metropol area ~ inviting golfers interested in playing on a variety of courses to join our Veterans goup. The result was disappointing, however it is an example of your committee s effort to promote and strengthen our club. New members are the life blood of an organization such as ours, so we must keep up our efforts in this regard. Reintroduction of the raffle as detailed in the Treasurer's report has been a great success. Handicapper Grant's system is working well, as the winning scores for the Annual Trophies are reducing each year. In 2008 the scores were an average of 12 points lower in each category.
Special thanks to Captain Bernie Coyle and Vice Captain Peter Kearney in arranging the excellent golf syllabus for us to play at good challenging golf courses, plus amending the starting procedure to ensure mimimal delay in recording players arrival, selecting groups and dispatching them to the "tee" has been a great success.
In conclusion Ray thanked the committee for a job well done
Captain Bernie Coyle presented his circulated report, and he expressed what a good year it had been for the club, with increased numbers most months and to have Keysborough in our program three times in 2008 as it is a very challenging course and one that is great fun to play.
It was also very pleasing to see so many different faces win the various prizes awarded at our Christmas Lunch.
The 2009 programme has been finalized: the changes to Centenary Park Golf course are now complete making it one of the best public course in the state and a joy to play on so many of the other courses suffered very badly as a result of the prolonged drought.
In 2009 we return to Patterson River after an absence of several years and whilst many Venues have increased their costs substantially for 2009, the committee will continue to subsidise these courses to keep our costs at $35.00.
In conclusion Bernie expressed his special thanks to various people who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the Monthly game of golf more enjoyable: namely Grant Hazelgrove (Handicapper), Peter Kearney (Vice Captain), Lance Bolam (Secretary) and Ken Gangell (Marketing) and all the other members of the committee for a job well done. He thanked all members for their friendship and help in 2008 which contributed greatly towards his very successful year as Captain.

(1) Handicapper Grant addressed the meeting, with a proposal to increase the maximum Handicap to 45 (at the handicappers Discretion).
After a lively discussion it was put to the vote.
Moved: Grant Hazelgrove Seconded: Lance Bolam Carried ....Unanimously
(2) Secretary Lance thanked those members who registered their email addresses, but as at the 19th January 2009 only 9 members have indicated their interest details, therefore with a Mailing List of over 60 members it was recommended that we put this suggestion on hold pending a better response. Carried.
(3) Dave Da Fonte raised the question re the possibility of playing an Ambrose Event on our syllabus .
Secretary Lance responded that the Bill Fitzsimmons Trophy was originally an Ambrose event. . .but at the wishes of the majority members in 2005 it was cancelled and made into a Stableford event
Handicapper Grant pointed out it would have a marked effect on the end of the season trophies where the criteria for 3 out of the 7 major trophies is the best 8 cards .
Currently we have 10 Stableford events, excluding the Agg Stableford and 4BBB President and Captains Trophy which do not count for the trophies, therefore if we were to reduce this to 9 Stableford events, it would effectively mean members would have to play practically every Stableford event to qualify .
Captain Bernie then suggested that we play the Ambrose event at Eagle Ridge in June to solve this problem. It was agreed by all members present.
There were no more matters raised.
There being no further business the President Ray Underwood closed the meeting at 1.40pm
