July 2022 Newsletter

 President Report:

The members were welcomed to the Southern Golf Club where they were playing for the Alf Jones Trophy on an excellent course.  The members thanked the club for hosting them along with their hospitality where everyone enjoyed a hot lunch.

The starters Peter, Jeff and Roger dispatched the 58 golfers on the well prepared shotgun tees.

Today we had 5 guests who thoroughly enjoyed the tournament - Gina Thorne, Larry Lee, Jack Rydel, Peter Latoszynski and Peter Rodwell who were presented with a complimentary club ball.  It was great to see the return of members Eric Ferrero and Spiro Sparsi.

Members were reminded to support our sponsors - House of Golf and the delicious Jimmys Jam sponsored by member David Heraud.

Unfortunately the next scheduled tournament at Eagle Ridge had to be cancelled due to lack of numbers.

So members, our next tournament will be at the Rosebud Country Club on Monday, 1st of August with a field of 72 golfers so that we can schedule a shotgun start on the North course, please register.

The COM is looking for a member to assist in our Marketing role, going forward - could you be interested?

Hole-in-one

Holes-in-one are quite rare events. So when a member gets one we like to acknowledge it - particularly in this case where our NAGA winner from last month, David Rieger used his prize of a lesson from House of Golf and his new skills to get a hole-in-one at Oakleigh.

Sponsors

Our sponsors, House of Golf (Mentone) and Jimmys Jams continue to support the Club and it's up to us to support them as well.

Lawyers v psychologists

A guy asked a girl in a university library: "Do you mind if I sit beside you?"
The girl replied with a loud voice: "WHAT A CHEEK! I WILL NOT SPEND THE NIGHT WITH YOU!"
All the students in the library started staring at the guy; he was truly embarrassed. After a couple of minutes, the girl walked quietly to the guy's table and said: "I study psychology, and I know what a man is thinking. I guess you felt embarrassed, right?"
The guy then responded with a loud voice: "$500 FOR ONE NIGHT? THAT'S FAR TOO MUCH!"
All the people in the library looked at the girl in shock. The guy whispered in her ear: "I study law, and so I've learnt how to screw people".
