Members were welcomed by the President to the fourth VGCV tournament for 2022 at Churchill Park playing for the President and Captains Trophy with the fairways in great condition but numerous bunkers were poorly prepared.
Unfortunately our numbers were light for the tournament with 6 late withdrawals on the day and several others who had fallen victim of the Covid regulations. All our lady members participated in the tournament and it was great to see Marg Holden playing after her operation. We can report that Laurie Comerford has had his hip replaced and is progressing with his rehab.
The members welcomed new member Leo Hiku who was presented with a club ball.
The Club membership fee of $40 needs to be paid by the end of April or when you play at our next tournament at Cranbourne on the 2nd of May - this is the DEAD LINE.
All those who attended enjoyed the lunch of a Chicken schnitzel burger or fish & chips and thanked the club for their hospitality.
We ask all members to please support our sponsors - Innes Ireland at the House of Golf and our sponsor through David Heraud, Jimmys Jams (a great product).
Our starters for the day Taffy Davies, Yvonne Daniel with Peter Ross were thanked by the Captain for conducting the start.
The CoM are still looking for volunteers to assist the Marketing area and the Newsletter preparation.
Between the machinations of CoVID and us all getting a couple of years older since 2020 quite a few members are not expected to rejoin this year leading to a reduction in Club size and the Captain's ability to negotiate deals with the Clubs where we play. So we need every member to act as a recruiting agent.
One of the best ways of recruiting new members is by our current members cajoling their playing colleagues at other courses to join. You can strongly re-inforce the appeal of the Club by referring prospective members to the web site.
There are a few ways of doing this:
New members receive 5 cards in their welcome envelope and probably wonder why. If you can't find yours, contact the Secretary who has a box of them.

Ed and Linda met on a singles cruise and Ed fell head over heels for her. When they discovered they lived in the same city, only a few miles apart, Ed was ecstatic. He immediately started asking her out when they got home. Within a couple of weeks, Ed had taken Linda to dance clubs, restaurants, concerts, movies, and museums.
Ed became convinced that Linda was indeed his soul mate and true love. Every date seemed better than the last. On the one-month anniversary of their first dinner on the cruise ship, Ed took Linda to a fine restaurant. While having cocktails and waiting for their salad, Ed said, "I guess you can tell I'm very much in love with you. I'd like a little serious talk before our relationship continues. So, before I get a box out of my jacket and ask you a life changing question, it's only fair to warn you, I'm a total golf nut. I play golf, I read about golf, I watch golf on TV. In short, I eat, sleep, and breathe golf. If that's going to be a problem for us, you'd better say so now!"
Linda paused, then responded, "Ed, that certainly won't be a problem.
I love you as you are and I love golf too; but, since we're being totally honest with each other, you need to know that for the last five years I've been a hooker."
