President Report

President Report:

The members were welcomed to the Cranbourne Golf course who played for the Grant Haselgrove Perpetual trophy and members thanked our hosts for the opportunity to play the course and their hospitality.

To our starters - Ronald Neef, Tom Buzza, Peter Garbellini and Jeff Stephens a big thanks for dispatching the field on time.  At each tournament we look for volunteers to do the duties of being a starter for the day.

We had 58 members tee off, with 29 who forwarded their apology for non attendance.

The following members found their names published in the Herald Sun as winners during the last month but unfortunately weren't there to "Brag" on their round - T MacQuilton, A McAuliffe, Tess Killmister and D Harrowell.

Our oldest playing member George Giles was congratulated by the members with a round of applause on reaching the young age of 86.

Members are reminded of the MAJOR draw at the Southern tournament in July - as you play, you receive another chance in the draw.  If you play all 7 tournaments you have 7 chances, if however, you attend only 3 tournaments it only gives you that many chances.

The prize list is for 1st $500 2nd $200 3rd $100.  It pays to play.

At the conclusion of formalities, the CoM met where the position of Secretary was filled by Jeff Taylor returning to those duties, with Peter Ross stepping into the Treasurers roll.  Thank you both for assisting the club.

With the introduction of the "Tap and Play" facility we wish to thank members for accepting the direction of the CoM in moving with the times.

Our representative at the VVGA Country Championship at Phillip Island Golf Club, Vice Captain Harold Hayes teamed with Robert Taylor from North Eastern District and won the 4BBB competition on Monday under extreme weather conditions.  Congratulations guys.

Our next game is at Keysborough on Monday the 7th of June will have a shotgun start across holes 1 to 9 - see you there.

Larry's understanding: VVGC

Larry's clear assessment of the facts

  • StupidA new teacher was trying to make use of the psychology courses from his training days. He started his class by saying, "Everyone who thinks they're stupid, stand up!" After a few seconds, Little Larry stood up. The teacher said, "Do you think you're stupid, Larry?"

"No, Sir, but I hate to see you standing there all by yourself!"
  • CleanerLarry watched, fascinated, as his mother smoothed cold cream on her face. "Why do you do that, mommy?" he asked. "To make myself beautiful," said his mother, who then began removing the cream with a tissue. "What's the matter", asked Larry

    "Giving up?"
  • The math teacher saw that Larry wasn't paying attention in class. She called on him and said, "Larry! What are 2 and 3 and 7 and 9 and 10?"
Larry quickly replied, "ABC, SBS, Channels 7, 9 and 10". Cleaner

  • Larry's kindergarten class was on a field trip to their local police station where they saw pictures tacked to a bulletin board of the 10 most wanted criminals. One of the youngsters pointed to a picture and asked if it really was the photo of a wanted person. "Yes" said the policeman. "The detectives want very badly to capture him."
Larry asked, "And why didn't you keep him when you took his picture?"
